Satellite Services

These are communication services via satellite aimed at satisfying one of these two needs:

• Ext coverage: Geographical extension of GSM coverage facilitating interconnection between a BSC and new BTS stations that are incorporated into the network.
• Backup: Backup of land-based mobile telephony links (on E, A, Ater, Abis interfaces) for all of the interface traffic or for signalling only.

Telefonica Wholesale offers its customers the possibility of integrated management of the service from its Satellite Services Control Centre 24x7. Alternatively, Telefonica Wholesale can provide the necessary training and support so that the you can manage the service yourself.

GSMoSatellite uses optimisation techniques that make it possible to reduce the occupied bandwidth by approximately half.
